About Central Valley Fiction Writers

CVFW’s roots date back to 2008 when the Yosemite Romance Writers (YRW) Chapter of the Romance Writers of America (RWA) was established in Fresno, California. After YRW disaffiliated from RWA at the end of 2021, CVFW rose in its place, expanding beyond romance to include all fiction writers.

Our programs and networking opportunities are geared toward beginning and established writers, and those in between. We offer presentations and workshops on craft, publishing (both traditional and indie), and marketing. Past programs have included such topics as:

  • “Dissecting the Dual-Time: Writing a Time-Slip Novel”

  • “Criminal Trial Procedure for Writers”

  • “Publishing in Today’s Interactive Environment”

  • “Finding Your Characters’ Dark Moment”

  • “Marketing: Teasers, Covers & Book Trailers”

  • “Newsletter Tips and Tricks”

As our organization grows, we plan to expand our services to include additional programs such as mentorships, critique groups, marketing groups, and promotional activities.
